UFCU Named Finalist for Austin Gives Generous Business Awards

Austin, TEXAS, March 26, 2019 — University Federal Credit Union, Austin’s largest locally-owned financial institution, has been named a finalist for the Austin Gives Generous Business Awards. Presented by Austin Gives, a program of the Greater Austin Chamber that encourages business philanthropy, the award recognizes Austin businesses for their efforts to give back to community-based, nonprofit organizations.

“We are proud to be recognized for our philanthropic efforts by being named a finalist for this award,” said UFCU President Tony Budet. “At UFCU, we believe that when our community is strong, we are strong. We strive to work toward the sustainable development of the Austin community through our DO GOOD program and other community involvement efforts.”

UFCU employees have volunteered more than 13,251 hours and donated more than $230,155, including UFCU matching funds, to local nonprofits through the DO GOOD program. Two-thirds (66%) of UFCU employees participate in the program, which encourages individuals to find their passion and volunteer on their own, with their department, or together as an organization. UFCU also helps Texans achieve financial health through its social impact work in employment, education, and housing.

The Austin Gives Generous Business Awards recognize businesses in four categories: Charitable Champions (26 or fewer employees), Big Heart (27–100 employees), Bold Giver (101–400 employees), and Community Leaders (401+ employees). UFCU is a finalist in the Community Leaders category.

One winner will be named in each category. The winners will be announced at a luncheon on April 12.
