University Federal Credit Union Sponsors CRONKITE: Eyewitness to a Century

Cronkite: Eyewitness to a Century

Austin, TEXAS — April 27, 2010 — UFCU is proud to announce its sponsorship of CRONKITE: Eyewitness to a Century. This groundbreaking exhibit, presented by the Briscoe Center for American History and The LBJ Presidential Library & Museum, is the first ever to document and share the experiences of one of the nation’s preeminent journalists.

Walter Cronkite’s broadcasts brought virtually every major news story of the last half of the twentieth century to the American people, with the legendary integrity, accuracy, and devotion to the larger ideals of journalism that made him one of the most respected public figures in the country. CRONKITE: Eyewitness to a Century explores his experiences with some of the most crucial moments in history, including D-Day, the assassination of John F. Kennedy, the civil rights movement, the Vietnam War, the Watergate scandal, and the nascent and heady days of the space race. The exhibit brings Cronkite’s personal and professional experiences to life, featuring never-before-seen items from the Briscoe Center's collections.
